The business behind the website

Precision engineering.
A sharper
online presence.

Based in Fleetwood, Lancashire, Holbro Engineering has more than 40 years of experience in engineering. Its work spans rail engineering, precision machining, overhaul and repair, pantograph services, and laser and fabrication.

The existing website no longer did that breadth of capability justice. Its design had fallen behind the business, while broken links, dated information and old assets made it harder to present a clear, current picture of Holbro.

Our brief was to create a professional engineering website that represented the company more accurately and made its services easier to explore. The project combined website redesign, refreshed content and a more considered experience across devices.

The starting point

The business
had moved on.
The website hadn't.

This was more than a change of colours and fonts. The old website had practical problems that affected how people could use it, alongside security concerns that made its technical condition part of the brief.

A dated first impression

The visual presentation no longer reflected the quality or capability of the engineering business.

Broken customer journeys

Broken links interrupted the routes visitors should have been able to follow through the site.

Outdated content and assets

Older information and imagery needed attention so the website could tell a clearer, more current story.

A poor mobile experience

The website was not optimised for visitors browsing on phones and smaller screens.

Security concerns

The condition of the existing site meant technical reliability needed consideration alongside the redesign.

The design direction

A more confident
engineering website.

We brought Holbro's identity into a clearer visual system: dark blue and teal, strong headings, relevant engineering imagery and contrasting calls to action.

A clearer first impression, with the company's engineering focus immediately visible.

Content & navigation

Complex services.
Clearer routes.

Engineering websites need to explain specialist work without making visitors search through a wall of information. Holbro's redesigned website introduces the business clearly, then provides routes into its individual service areas.

Visitors can explore the company's engineering divisions, capabilities, capacity information and contact details. This gives prospective customers a more useful starting point for understanding what Holbro can provide.

Responsive website design

Made for
smaller screens,
too.

The previous site had not been optimised for mobile. The redesign gave smaller screens proper attention, with layouts that adapt, readable content and clear routes to the business.

The aim was straightforward: visitors should be able to understand Holbro's services and find contact information whether they arrive on a desktop, tablet or phone.

Better journeys through the site

Broken links and outdated information were central to the original brief. The redesign focused on clearer navigation, refreshed content and meaningful connections between the company, its services and contact options.

For an engineering business, those details matter: a potential customer needs to reach the information that helps them decide whether to enquire.

A website needs ongoing attention

The security concerns surrounding the old site were a reminder that a website's condition matters as much as its appearance. Design, content and technical upkeep need to be considered together.

Our website maintenance and WordPress hosting services help businesses plan for life after launch, with the scope of support agreed around their requirements.

The outcome

A website that
better represents
the business.

The finished redesign gives Holbro a more current digital presence, with a stronger visual identity, clearer service information and a responsive presentation.

A stronger first impression

A more professional design that brings the company's engineering expertise to the foreground.

More useful information

Refreshed content and clearer routes into the services, capabilities and contact details visitors need.

A mobile-friendly foundation

A website designed to adapt across screen sizes, replacing the limitations of the older site.
